FHS Alumni Game - August 9th

We are inviting all FHS soccer alumni to come back to play at their old Alma Mater.  MSHSAA rules make it difficult for us to schedule a game against the current team, but we would like to see if you "old timers" ;-) still have what it takes.

The game will be Friday, August 9th @ 7:00 at the high school.  Please sign up by completing the following form:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/16SvbWpedwfaRzUP1AvYjt5SRNSf8oIPJp8Iq6kDiQ24/viewform

Please help us spread the word about the game by sending out a link to the blog or to the form itself.

Thanks.

May 20th: Soccer Academy Cancelled

First, we are cancelling the Soccer Academy this evening.  The fields are too wet and the weather situation is a little dicey anyway.  We will try again next Monday.  (I know it is Memorial Day, but we will have it anyway.)

Our focus has been on individual skills and we are seeing some progress there.  We have worked on ball control (turns, dribbling moves, shielding) primarily.  The younger groups don't quite have those mastered yet, but we are seeing flashes of incorporating those skills into their play.  But we think we are laving the foundation for playing soccer the right way.

We have the opportunity to test those skills by placing some teams in a Show-Me State 3 v 3 tournament on June 15-16 in Columbia.  It's a fast-paced, small-sided game played on the turf at Hickman High School.  Win or lose, it's a lot of fun.  (For more information about the rules, you can visit the SMSG website.)

If your child is interested in playing, please email me by Thursday, so I can start putting the rosters together.  We will also need some parent coaches, so if you would be willing to do that, please let me know that as well.  (Or if you would like to volunteer someone else, that's fine too.)

Soccer Academy

This spring the Fulton Soccer Club will be running a Soccer Academy.  The purpose of a soccer academy is player development.  In an academy environment, players are taught ball control and other technical exercises as well as soccer tactics.  The FSC Academy relies heavily on the use of game-related drills and small-sided games (3 v 3 for example) to provide a fun learning environment.

Who is for?  Any player in grades 2 - 8 who wants to improve as a soccer player.

Where will it be held?  Morgan Soccer Complex (map)

When will it be?  Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 (starts April 8 and end May 27)

How much does it cost?  $20 (includes a club t-shirt)

Who are the coaches?  The coaches are Shawn Hull and Brandon Russell.  Coach Hull has been involved in soccer for over 35 years.  He played college soccer and has coached at the recreational, competitive, and high school levels.  Coach Russell played for both Fulton High School and the Fulton Soccer Club.  Brandon has also played at the college level.

We ask that you please register in advance.  (Use this form.)  If you have any questions please email Coach Hull or call 573.220.4762.

Players will be doing a lot of individual work with the ball, so we are asking that players bring a ball if they have one.  We will have some extra ones, but we don't have enough for everyone.

Fast Footwork Clinic

The Fulton Soccer Club is holding a fast footwork clinic for grades K-8 on Saturday, March 2.  It will be held at the Fulton Middle School gym.  We will have the following grade-specific sessions:

Grades K-2 @ 9:00
Grades 3-5 @ 10:00
Grades 6-8 @ 11:00

Each session will last 50 minutes and will focus on age-appropriate ball-control skills, specifically turns and dribbling moves.  Participants should wear tennis shoes (not cleats) and are encouraged to bring a ball.  Shin guards are not necessary.

Information about the club's spring activities will also be available on Saturday morning.

The cost of the clinic is $5.

To register, please fill out the following form:
