How Not to Play Defense
In the US-Belize match, the Belizean defender demonstrates what happens when you get square to the attacker. He ends up falling to the ground and watches helplessly as Torres crosses the ball that results in the first US goal.
You can best see this sequence at the 25 second mark in the video. The defender is square (meaning both feet are even and his hips and chest are facing the attacker) and gets beat easily with a feint and a push to the outside. Watch how easily he becomes unbalanced. As he tries to keep up with Torres, the defender's legs get tangled and he falls down.
